About Telstra Australia: Telstra Corporation Limited (known as Telstra) is Australia’s largest telecommunications company which builds and operates telecommunications networks and markets voice, mobile, internet access, pay television and other products and services.

Telstra has a long history in Australia, originating together with Australia Post as the Postmaster-General’s Department. Telstra is now fully privatised and was undergoing a change program to become more customer focused under its previous CEO, David Thodey. The federal government’s National Broadband Network (NBN) is causing changes to the industry and will see the company progressively sell its copper and HFC networks to the government’s NBN holding company. Current CEO Andy Penn has been struggling with the company’s market value having declined substantially under his leadership, among criticism of his and some of his executives’ pay, and continued departures of senior executives.

    Dear Sir/Madam

    CASE NUMBER 172515379
I would like to lodge an official complaint against Telstra, about my ongoing Internet Issues.

I have been a Telstra customer for about more than 10 years now and have been on platinum with my unlimited home and internet plan. I am using ADSL plus 2 platform as NBN facilities are not available in my locality as yet.
    Ongoing Issues with Telstra Broadband

For my of months , I have been experiencing deterioration of my broadband services with average speeds of 3 mps (download) and upload speed of 0.12mps.This problem exhibated recently when I started working from home. This has been also acknowledged by Telstra Technician fixing the broadband access for my neighbour as well.

    • On the 24th April, around 11 am, I phoned Telstra and spoke to a female consultant (Level 1), and she also acknowledged that Internet speeds were extremely low for service and plan I am on. She tried her level best; however this was escalated to Level 2 Technician. I noticed that I had more serious issue now as I was not having any internet Signal with no internet authentication. On 24th April, 2020,at 5pm I again rang Telstra spoke to person Homer, he seemed to have lack of respect of my issues and found dealing with him quite frustrating. He basically repeated that issue has been raised to Level 2 technician and the person will contact me on Monday, 27th April. I found he was not offering any pragmatic internet issues.

    • On the 25th April, around 11 am, I phoned Telstra again and this time I spoke to a female consultant (Level 1), and she also acknowledged that Internet that totally not working. She tried again displayed understanding for lack of Customers service and was told the internet problem can be related to my end and offered to sell another modem ( sales gimmick in desperate times). This was not the issue at all. I rang at 3pm and complained about that I needed access to Home internet as I had been assigned to finish my work responsibilities. Again she offered me nothing new and even mentioned that I could get pre-paid mobile service to get necessary service. As for restoration of internet broadband services, again there was no new solution. In late afternoon, I received a text, that a technician would be visiting me about internet issue .

    • On the 26th April, around 9 am, I was visited by Telstra technician. He came to discuss and test the internet line. In his assessment, he concluded following:-
    • He was receiving internet signal outside
    • He confirmed that the modem was working fine
    • He confirmed that the was no authentication of any internet signal received
    • He confirmed that problem could be at the Telstra exchange
    • He confirmed that I should be receiving an alternative mobile post Telstra internet signal kit-free
On 26th afternoon, I spoke to person named Jane, She was unwilling or did not want to assist with my queries. Every time posing rhetorical questions and not providing pragmatic solutions and she refused to provide adequate service.

    • On the 27th April, around 9 am, I was informed by Telstra Level 2 technician, That this issue remains unresolved and he has lodged a written report to Telstra Head Office.he suggested that Telstra should provide you with SMART MODEM.
    • I am still awaiting for call from JOVECH my case manager to resolve this issue from 9am in the morning. I have rang him number of times
    • I have yet to receive call or messages ,despite of leaving various messages
I seek to be adequately compensated for :-
    • My services to be restored ASAP
    • Slow Telstra speed for past 3 months
    • SMART Modem
    • Prepaid Mobile services
    • Apology from the management for inconvenience caused

    Yours Faithfully,

  3. I am trying to establish a new internet, home phone and mobile bundle but I keep getting redirected to self help and text talk, I am a 68 year old pensioner and have some disabilities and I don’t comprehend new technology very well. I want to talk with a real person on the phone, not on texting. What has happened to good old fashion customer service. If Telstra don’t want me as a customer please advise me! I have been attempting to get service for a week now and this is not good enough. Call me 0467543594 this is a Telstra pre-paid account currently.
